edible flint planned its first Food Garden Tour in September of 2009, to showcase urban food gardens, and promote a variety of gardening methods.  The planning group was overwhelmed by the community response, doubling the number of busses and the amount of food within a week of the tour due to public demand.

In 2010, the Food Garden Tour was expanded to allow for more gardens to be included and attendees to participate.  Three separate routes were planned – two for busses, one for bicycles.  U of M-Flint reserved a separate bus for students to attend as well.

In 2011, the Food Garden Tour date was held in July and again featured a large number of gardens, three tour routes, delicious local food and entertainment.  The Flint Farmers' Market has been the home base for all three years, providing a terrific starting and ending point, and emphasizing its importance in our community for being a place to access fresh, healthy, local food.
